We discovered a way to save on sewing machine repairs. This is something most people can do. You can choose what level of expertise you want to attain. You can just learn to do the basic sewing machine adjustments; or you can become a full-blown repair expert.

Sewing machines are an important tool to those who sew. You depend on your sewing machines for all your sewing projects. You may use a regular sewing machine, a serger, a quilting machine, a heavy duty machine, a commercial sewing machine or any other specialized machine. And if they are not working properly, your sewing stops until you are able to have it fixed.

Sewing Machine Repair

As we are an upholstery shop, we depend on our sewing machines daily. When they are not working correctly or breakdown, upholstery jobs may not be completed for customers.

Keeping our machines running well has always been important to us. In the beginning years of our business it was impossible to have our sewing machines repaired in the local area. We tried a couple of times with disastrous results.

Finally, a representative from one of our upholstery suppliers told us about a sewing machine repairman who had a shop in a town about 75 miles from us. We contacted him. He traveled to our shop and fixed our machines. We were elated to finally have a serviceman that we could call with sewing machine problems.

When this shop decided to offer sewing machine repair classes, we signed up immediately. We were able to take a sewing machine to class to learn to service it ourselves. This class ran for several days. We ended up being able to take both our Consew and our Pfaff machines to class. It was time and money well spent.

We also have two home sewing machines. One is a Singer and the other is a Kenmore. From time to time we need to service them too.

Now, we can service and repair our own machines. Being able to fix all our sewing machines has saved us a lot of time and money. It wasn't difficult to learn.

What are some of the advantages of fixing your own sewing machine?

The sewing machine is truly magnificent. It is not only used for practical, everyday sewing projects; but it may also be used for hobbies or business.
